Maui and Hawaii both join Open Invention Network

Pier Luigi Fiorini signed two agreements (one for Maui and one for Hawaii) with Open Invention Network.
These agreements give the projects a free license to all the Linux System patents of all the members of OIN and, in return, we will give them a free license to any Linux System patent we may have (although we don’t have any).

Open Invention Network was formed as a way to help defend the Linux ecosystem from the risks associated with software patents. Patents owned by Open Invention Network are available royalty-free to any company, institution or individual that agrees not to assert its patents against the Linux System.

Our project maintains a position against software patents, but joining OIN provides a safety net when it comes to the risks of such patents.
